1st GRADE

Building on what children learned in Kindergarten, first graders work primarily on learning how to read and write (cursive) in Hungarian. At this level, most of our students can speak the language correctly and with ease. They spend time on each and every letter and have their own textbooks and workbooks as well.

2nd GRADE

Most students enter second grade with solid reading and writing skills. The curriculum is divided into thematic sections and it is designed to grow more challenging as the school year progresses. Besides reading and writing, second graders continue to learn about Hungarian traditions, customs as well as holidays. Through these, they are introduced to the basic cultural, geographical and historical concepts of the region as well.

3rd GRADE

Most third graders speak Hungarian fluently and they participate in advanced language-based activities, such as being introduced to poems and texts written by well-known Hungarian poets and authors. They are encouraged to participate in poem recitals and school plays as well. By celebrating all national and traditional holidays, such as Marcius 15th, “Farsang” or “Szuret”, we aim to instill a sense of joy in our students with regards to the Hungarian language, culture as well as their own identity as Hungarian Americans.
